Hanicka - was built between 1936 and 38 an artillery fortress. The fortress was almost completed in terms of construction and in 1938 it was ready for temporary defence (the main weapons, i.e. 10 cm howitzers, were missing). After the signing of the Munich Agreement, Hanička was handed over to the Germans on 10 October 1938 without a single shot being fired. After the end of World War II, Hanička became a source of drinking water for Rokytnice. From 1969 to 1975, the most famous era of the fortress lasted - Hanička was opened to the general public. Despite the huge interest of visitors, the fortress is seized by the Ferderal Ministry of the Interior in 1975. Under the codename KAHAN, a fallout shelter was built here. Construction work continued until 1993, but the shelter was not completed. In the spring of 1995, Hanička was abandoned by the Police of the Czech Republic. Since the same year it has again been open to the public. On February 1, 2007 Hanička was declared a cultural monument.
